Dear Member:

As of December 31, 2016, Capital One will end its surcharge free ATM service for members of several credit unions, including Shell Geismar FCU.  However, you will still be able to use Capital One ATMs, but will now be charged an ATM fee.

As a Shell Geismar FCU member, you still have access to thousands of surcharge free ATMs nationwide, thanks to our partnership with Dolphin ATMs.  You may search for a surcharge free ATM using our convenient search tool located on our main website page.  You can also go to, select the ‘Our Networks’ tab and search by city and state for an ATM near you.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We thank you for being a member of Shell Geismar FCU.

Capital One surcharge free ATM program ends Dec. 31, 2016.  This was a business decision by Capital One and it affects all the credit unions they were partnering within the ATM program.

What this means for our members:

Any SGFCU member using a Cap One ATM after that will be charged a fee at the Cap One ATM. Note: all ATMs are required to notify the person that there will be a fee and give them a chance to decline so this is one way members will know they are going to be charged a fee now.

Surcharge free options for our members to get cash:

  1. NEW partnership with Dolphin Debit.  Find a location by going to and select the tab called OUR NETWORKS, then a search box will open.  You will see Dolphin Debit on ATMs—they are usually at the Murphy Gas stations in front of Walmart.  They are also located at various credit unions but not likely at a Capital One.  Members will need to find a new machine to use that is convenient to them.
  2. Get cash back at a merchant when shopping.
  3. The SGFCU ATM at the main office.
